The World Archery board meeting (17-18 December 2011) has reviewed the status of technology innovations currently under way in this sport, in view of the London Olympic Games next year. The Tabrasco Heart Beat Monitor is mentioned in this paragraphe:

An automatic scoring system project from an engineering team in Hungary has been presented to Council. The project is close to completion and very promising. Another project on the edge of technology is also underway with a Swiss research team: the aim is to measure the heart-rate of the athletes on the shooting line and include it in a TV graphic.

A few days earlier, the device was tested under competition conditions in Crissier (Switzerland). The video features Olympic Champion Juan Carlos Holgado explaining the purpose of the Heart Monitor Project.

This week, Yverdon-les-Bains will host the 4th MECATRONIC Connection edition. The convention will bring together 150 international companies in the form of B to B meetings, conferences and visits of sites. The Mechatronics, as the combination of electronics, mechanics, automatism and embedded software, is actually a fast-growing market and concerns more and more industries in their technological evolution.

Thanks to a specialized industry in products with high added value and concentration of businesses and technology centers highly trained, Yverdon-les-Bains and the Canton de Vaud are considered as the clearing house in the field of mechatronics, ideally situated on the borders of France, Italy, Austria and Germany.

Tabrasco connects this melting pot of technologies with the world of international sports governance, another core area in the region. The current development of the World Archery Heart Monitor is a perfect example of mechatronics serving sports.

The Tabrasco case will be presented at the MECATRONIC Connection Conference, on Tuesday afternoon (29 November 2011, 3.30 pm).

If you have ever experienced a statutes revision in your sports club, imagine this: to revise statutes of a world wide organisation with 105 member federations, and about as many cultural, economic and political contexts. This is SportAccord, the umbrella organisation of the International Sports Federations. The statutes revision takes place right now.

A first tentative based on e-mail and fax was abandonded shortly after it started, and just on time before it turned into nightmare. The organisation then asked Tabrasco to build a web based process, with direct dialogue among the participants and a pre-defined timeline. Phase 1 of the input gathering has now been closed. Time for Marie-France Wilson, the person in charge of the process at SportAccord, to share her experience.

The application is based on the Rules Tracker software, created by Tabrasco for smart and smooth editing of bylaws, regulations and other reference documents.

When the International Sports Federations meet at the IF Forum in Lausanne next week, Tabrasco will be among the virtual guests. At least three current software developments contribute to the latest governance initiatives inside the international sports community:

The SportAccord statutes revision platform provides all the member organisations around the globe with a smooth and smart way to co-edit the new text in a hustle free process. Learn more about this solution in the Info Tracking section (Rule Tracker).

The ASOIF Issues Management Solution is a different tracking software developped by Tabrasco. First used for the Singapore Youth Olympic Games, it now helps all stakeholders involved in the London Olympic Games to address, follow and solve related issus. More on this under the Issue Tracker menu.

Lust but not least, the development of the SportAccord Community is under way. What started as the SportAccord Convention NetWorker has evolved to a major project for the worldwide community of sports governance. Discover some of the aspects of this innovation at the Who’s Who page.

Sports connected says the Tabrasco logo byline. Connecting people, data and knowledge, providing a unique level of synchronisation: these are our first contributions to making the international sports community fit for the decades to come.

The works likely to be in the focus of conversations at IF Forum are just the beginning. More of them are in the pipeline – and many others to be invented.

Enjoy the IF Forum. Let’s talk soon and discover your own needs for connecting sports.
